Gonna be attending one of the first “socially distanced” autocrosses in my region this weekend. Any Oppos who have been to events recently, what’s it like? Does the event run pretty much the same? Any fun stories? I’m stoked to get back out there either way.

Literally nothing different besides wearing masks when checking in or during the spaced apart driver’s meetings. Also no ride alongs

I went to one Sunday. Grid space was capped at 50 to keep the crowd small. Hand sanitizer was available and encouraged. Stay spread out at work assignments (though that’s pretty normal). No loaner helmets. No passengers if you’re not in the same household (so no instructors, though they did allow novice class anyway). Social distanced parking. Masks were pretty optional since it was in western PA.
Really not bad. With less people you get more runs. It’s outdoor and you don’t come in direct contact with many people. I masked up for group stuff like driver meetings but left it off the rest of the day.
Tip. Hand sanitizer strips off sunscreen. Because of this I got 2nd degree burns on the backs of my hands. So... Reapply after ye sanitize.

We got ride of ride-a-longs, required masks, and cancelled the trophy ceremony (and free beer that went with it). The only real pain is that we stopped providing water, and it gets very hot down here in Texas.

I got my 3rd test and tune of the season on Saturday and then I’m running my first official points event of the year on Sunday. Of course masks are mandatory. We have tried to get as many people to have the yearly-waivers so we can avoid that. Tech has been a little more drawn out as we are trying to clean anything we touch. Work assignments have been preassigned as much as possible too. Drivers meeting is spaced out and we have tried to disapprove of groups congregating and/or doing coursewalks together.
We also have no ride alongs, loaner helmets, or spectators. Hopefully this weekend will go well and we can continue on to have some semblance of a season.

That’s good to hear that it ran smoothly. Similar rules here in CA, though we’re doing zero ride-alongs for now.
Big thank you on the sunscreen tip too, that’s gonna be very important.

I’m bringing a cooler with lots of extra water for sure. Hydration + food are more important than ever these days.

I've done 5-6 events during the covid lockdown. Some of them are the same as before, some don't allow ride alongs but thats it. Only thing they insist on is to wear a mask when you are outside your car.
